Growing up, my mom would spend all winter long saying "spring is almost here." That mantra and mentality is what gets me through the long and oftentimes brutal Minnesota winters.

One thing I do enjoy about winter is the opportunity to get extra cozy. Over the weekend, I made this snuggly “snow cave” reading fort for Louisa with her wooden rocker and some blankets (with fringe that happens to resemble icicles). We filled up the book wall with winter kids’ books and winter decorations, and we snuggled up as family inside the fort (our heads at least), reading alongside Lou's stuffed besties. It was perfect.

I want to share with you some of the best winter books for kids that we have on our shelves. The majority are new releases!

Louisa's now tall enough to reach the bottom two shelves, so I filled them with the books I knew she'd like most. About half of this collection will be shared in our Little Free Library if can find it in me to brave the subzero temps in order to fill it.
